Receive an email or Slack notification when your reports, slides, or documents are generated
Instead of waiting for output to be generated in the Slideform app, you can receive an email or Slack notification when your presentation is ready.
The Notification Settings are found in the Project's Settings tab.
Email Notifications
Enter one or more emails to receive the notifications. Separate the email addresses with commas.
This is project-specific, so you can even send the notification directly to your client if you want. The email will contain a direct link to the output if it is in Google Slides, or a link to Slideform if the output is in PowerPoint or another format.
Slack Notifications
The Slack webhook is how you can receive notifications in Slack channel.
To get your Slack webhook URL, you'll need to create an "incoming webhook" in your Slack workspace. This involves setting up a Slack app and enabling Incoming Webhooks, which will then generate a unique URL for your workspace. This URL can then be used by external applications to send messages to a specific Slack channel.
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to get your Slack webhook URL:
- Go to the Slack API website: Navigate to https://api.slack.com/apps.
- Create a new app: Click on "Create New App" and choose to create an app "From scratch".
- Name your app: Give your app a descriptive name, like "Slideform notifications", and select the Slack workspace where it will be used.
- Enable Incoming Webhooks: In your app's settings, go to "Features" and then "Incoming Webhooks". Turn on the "Incoming Webhooks" toggle and click on "Add new Webhook to Workspace".
- Select a channel: Choose the Slack channel where you want messages to be posted.
- Retrieve the Webhook URL: Slack will then generate a unique URL for your selected channel, which you can copy into Slideform.
