Managing your Data Sources

Preview and manage all the content from your data sources for easier mapping to your projects.

First, connect a data source to Slideform following the instructions here.

Once you've connected a data source, you must determine which chart or table you want to use on a particular slide in your report. But there may be hundreds of different elements in your dashboard! To make this matching task easier, Slideform allows you to preview the data source pages & worksheets, crop chart images, rename charts/tables, and even set favorites. Here's how it works.

Contents:

View Data Sources

Click on Data Sources in the Slideform menu to see a list of all your connected Data Sources.

Configure - Click Configure to manage the data and map to your projects.

Refresh - Refresh the data source only if you have made substantial changes to the layout or added new elements. You do not need to refresh the data source before you generate new output.

Delete - Click delete to remove the data source integration from Slideform.

Configure the Data Source

When you open the Configure page for your data source, the screen looks like this:

The Connection Information tab has the integration setup information you provided for this data source. You can make changes or refresh the data here.

The Metadata tab has a list of all the data elements that have been captured from this data source.

Explore Metrics tab

Charts, Tables & Metrics

There are three sections to the page, one for each of the different content types available. Note that not all types are found in each data source.

Preview

To preview a chart, select the worksheet (or dashboard page) and the chart from the dropdowns. Then click preview.

To preview all the charts on a page at once, just select the worksheet and click preview.

Rename

To rename a chart or table, just click on the name of the chart and type the new name. Hit enter to save the name.

Favorite (star)

Use the star icon to add a chart or table to your list of favorites. Favorites are accessed in the chart dropdown for each pragma on the Configure Data page in your project.

Send to Project

Use the send icon Screenshot 2024-06-28 at 2-30-26 PM-pngto send a specific chart or table to a pragma in any project.

Crop chart images to remove excess white space

To crop a chart, use the magnifier icon to open a larger view of the chart. Then use the mouse to select the rectangular area you want to use in Slideform. Click OK to save the cropped version.

To change the cropping, just reopen the chart view and set a different rectangular area.

Select a user-defined chart area from your dashboard

If one of your charts is not captured automatically, or if you want to group together several elements into one chart image, you can set a customized crop of the full page preview. On the Data Source Charts area, preview the full page.  Use the magnifier icon to open the full page image and set a crop area. At the bottom of the screen, give the new chart a name and save it using the Create New Chart button.

You can create more than one user-defined chart from each page. To remove a chart, click the trash can icon.
